Miniature Schnauzer dog breeders understand that it is of utmost important to socialize the puppies from day one with other dogs. Miniature Schnauzers, reportedly a cross between the Standard Schnauzer and the Affenpincher, were originally bred to catch vermin. They are robust, alert, happy dogs. A clipped coat is usually silvery-gray and lightens as the dog ages. The leg hair and whiskers are white. Most white Miniature Schnauzers with correct harsh coats will have a yellowish streak on their backs and head when their hair is hand stripped and the ends become blown or dead. It is assumed this is why they were originally called “yellow” in German records. The occasional salt and pepper coat emerged later. The tan colored Schnauzers you see today are classified by the AKC as a liver color.

Miniature Schnauzers are great, but do your homework first. The Miniature Schnauzer originated in Germany, and they weigh between 8-15 pounds as an adult. Schnauzers are non-shedding and their coats come in a variety of colors such as the more common black, black and silver, and salt and pepper, and the less common parti-colors. The degree of inward inclination is almost imperceptible in a Miniature Schnauzer that has correct movement. It does not justify moving close, toeing in, crossing, or moving out at the elbows.
Potential adopters need to ask questions of those placing the dogs and evaluate if the dog fits their lifestyles. Get as much background as you can before making the decision to adopt. The Toy Poodle is a very energetic, intelligent, and elegant appearing small dog. It has a beautiful dens, curly, and harsh textured coat. The thick, prominent eyebrows and long mustache are often trimmed to accentuate the dog’s square cut shape. The front legs are very straight.
