You’ll find Dachsies are very well socialized pets and will adapt easily to your loving home. Dachshunds and similar breeds tend to look very good in pet clothes such as dresses, vests and skirts. You may also want to consider some sweaters as your choice in dachshunds clothing. They are generally okay with other pets, however, once again, without proper leadership from their humans, they can be jealous, irritable, obstinate and very quick to bite. Sometimes refusing to be handled. So get advice for the care of your pet. As these dogs are rather popular, people often breed their pets and raise the puppies themselves without caring much about the health of the litter and breed standard. The result is increasing pet overpopulation and many dogs that are abandoned. Nose and nails-in the case of black dogs, black; for chocolate and all other colors, dark brown, but self-colored is acceptable. Partial or wholly blue (wall) eyes are as acceptable as dark eyes. A large area of white on the chest of a dapple is permissible. Eyes are oval in shape, medium in size and are dark rimmed. The muzzle is finely formed, the nose is black, and the head tapered.

Wirehair Dachshund breeders can also direct you to other Wirehair Dachshund breeders they know, which might be closer to you. USA Registered Puppies has developed a list of the most popular registered breeds with breed standard images for selecting your puppy. Their eyes are medium sized, dark and almond shaped, with dark rims. Their ears are set near the top of their heads, are rounded and moderately long. Its eyes are oval, dark red or brown-black with an energetic and friendly expression. Its ears are mobile and hanging long on its cheeks. Darker spots that are the color of the “normal” coat may appear on the lighter dapple area. There will be black spots on black and tan Dapples and chocolate spots on the chocolate and tan dogs.

Chihuahuas are already the smallest dog breed in the world and having one means that it will be the smallest of the smallest and they many people think they are the cutest. Major fault: color of nose, lips and eye-rims incomplete, or of wrong color for color of dog. Labradoodles are one of the friendliest dogs you will ever find. An Australian breeder decided to cross a Labrador with a Poodle for a vision-impaired lady who needed a guide dog, but was allergic to the fur. Please be sure to read “FYI” for additional details and review my Contract. Prices, pictures, pedigrees and references can be mailed upon request. The curved tail is dual-purposed: to be seen more easily in long grass and, in the case of burrowing dachshunds, to help haul the dog out if it becomes stuck in a burrow. Most of my dogs will greet strangers with a tail wag instead of a bark. They are all very happy and healthy.

So do Teacup Dachshunds exist? It suggests that the breed comes in different sizes. These little dogs like to bark (their barks are surprisingly loud for their size), and the dog needs to be told barking obsessively is an unwanted behavior. This breed has an instinct to dig. Despite their small size they make a good watch dog with a surprisingly loud bark. Dachshunds may be slightly aggressive to strangers. Wired-haired Miniature Dachshunds tend to be livelier and more outgoing then smooth-hairs. Miniature Dachshunds are more reserved than the standard breed. Miniature Dachshunds are available in smooth-hair, long-hair and wire-hair and come in a large array of colors. We have a limited number of males and several; females several colors. Some of my favorite colors are chocolate and tan and cream. Miniature Dachshunds although placed in the hound group, this is actually a breed of terriers, as they go to the ground in search of vermin.

Dachshunds are good dogs to travel with. This little dog needs an owner who understands how to be his pack leader or he will take over the house, attempting to train the owner rather than allow the opposite. Dachshunds are recognized by their long bodies and short legs. Their design is the epitome of form following function. When visiting good Dachshund breeders, or checking Dachshunds for sale offers, you must know that standard, toy and miniature Dachshunds are also available in three different types of coats – long-haired, wire-haired and short-haired. Coat colors of miniature Dachshunds and the two others on offer from Dachshund breeders, or through Dachshunds for sale offers come in dual or single color. Even so, Dachshunds are very devoted, loyal, and affectionate dogs. Other eye diseases that can affect Dachshunds are glaucoma, cataracts, optic nerve hypoplasia, distichiasis (abnormal eyelashes) as well as other conditions. Regular eye exams can help detect these eye-disorders early.

Dachshunds or “Weiner Dogs” have always remained a fascination with dog owners because of their unique appearance. But don’t let their odd look fool you, these dogs will run and play with the best of them, and can really get a head of steam going when in pursuit of a ball or another dog.

There are six varieties of dachshund: the smooth-haired, with a short, glossy coat; the long-haired, with a soft and silky coat; the wire-haired, with a short, harsh coat; and miniatures of each of these types. The color may be black or chocolate marked with tan, or various shades of solid red. Today’s Dachshund has been classified in several sub-categories: standard and miniature, smooth-haired, long-haired and wire-haired. Although the breed is classified under the Hound group, they are more like a terrier in working ability with the appearance and voice of a hound.

Because of their extremely elongated spines, Dachshunds are prone to degeneration of the discs. This can cause them to burst out of their normal position and impinge on the spinal cord. Dachshunds are very smart also, so you should start training her while she’s young. They sit, shake, roll over, play dead, speak, etc., etc. Dachshunds are a lot like terriers – they can be noisy, aggressive, hard to train and stubborn. Females are easier than males, but if you get a male have him neutered early!

Colloquially referred to as “wiener dogs” or “sausage dogs”, they are loyal, playful dogs, known for their propensity to chase small animals and birds. They are wonderful fun loving dogs that adore their owners and want to be involved in everything that is going on. They have a whole host of virtues such as: amiable, intelligent, brave, alert, loyal, playful, inquisitive and dignified. As a rule, Dachshunds are easy to train. All the difficulties are usually over by the age of 6 months in Dachshunds.

In general, dachshunds are silly, fun-loving dogs that are relatively easy to care for. They can get jealous, so they are not ideal for families with small children. That being said, if dominance training is not established when Dachshunds are puppies, they will attempt to control their owner. They have an extremely bold and proud personality. We all know Dachshunds are badger dogs, but what do we know about badgers? This: Badgers are big, mean and fearless.
