Before deciding on a small dog, you will want to do some research, as some are better suited with children or other pets, while others may not be suited in these homes. Breed rescues are pet rescue groups that specialize in a particular breed of dog. Before selecting the small dogs as pets it is advisable to have a better understanding of their characteristics. Once they become foster members of our family, we treat them as we do our own pets. We want our foster dogs to go to the home that best suits them. The specially designed shape provides a clean and smooth grooming session for your pet. They are comfortable to use all day and prove very useful for mobile groomers. Small dogs are cute, they’re cuddly and best of all you can take them almost anywhere! The most convenient way to transport your pooch is with a small dog carrier. By their nature, small dogs are underfoot. If you have rambunctious children or other large pets, smaller breeds, particularly toy breeds, can feel threatened. The teeth of small dogs are drastically overcrowded in their jaw, making them more prone to severe periodontal disease (and this is common knowledge among veterinarians). Their teeth are packed into a small jaw, leaving very little space in between them and providing plenty of places for bacteria and plaque to develop and grow.

Pet carriers help keep your pet safe and in a secure environment. You’ll find the web’s largest selection of both luxury and practical pet carriers for dogs, cats and small animals.

Small dogs are more likely to be allowed to sleep right on a human’s pillow. In the dog world, the pack leader sleeps in the highest (height wise) most comfortable place. All friendly small dogs are welcome. How small is small? Small children and small dogs don’t mix, and high energy people and small dogs are a bad combination. Before deciding on a particular small breed dog, do go and visit the local shelter and rescue groups, since most of them do have a large selection of small breed dogs.

However, some breeds of dogs, especially the smaller ones, are known to be good dogs with children. Most popular variety is a Labrador retriever and if there is a small child in your family, you may want to get a Labrador to raise it with your child. The breed is known for its puppy-like nature even throughout adulthood. Its gentle, affectionate, pleasing, and playful nature makes it an enjoyable companion. She has only known one person in her life and she is having a hard time adjusting to life at the shelter. She cowers in fear and tries to snap if you touch her too fast.

Pocket-sized pups love us unconditionally. They never question your motives and never stay mad at you. Everyone loves sweet looking puppies, but not everyone can stand up to the tiresome house training. Though most would appreciate the bonding shared with them. Maybe it's because Pugs are very social and LOVE the attention. Pugs are clingy dogs, always at their owner's feet, in their lap, or following them from room to room.
